The Karten Alpha CTEC Trust was established by Ian Karten, MBE, in 1997 to improve the quality of life and independence of people with additional needs by acquiring and learning skills through computer- based education. 

For this purpose, the Trust established The Karten CTEC Centre for (Computer-aided Training, Education and Communication) in Crowthorne. This centre provides computer-based training courses to adults with sensory impairment or learning disabilities of all kinds.
